Stowa Since 1999

The Securities & Timeshare Owners Welfare Association (STOWA) is an organization dedicated to safeguarding the interests of timeshare owners in India. Originally established in 1999 as the Sterling Resorts Timeshare Owners Welfare Association, it was renamed in 2009 to broaden its scope to include individuals invested in timeshare products from various companies.

STOWA's mission is to ensure that timeshare companies uphold the service levels and commitments promised to their members, thereby establishing their rightful privileges and benefits. The association assists members in selling unused holidays to interested parties, providing a platform for timeshare owners to maximize the value of their investments.

Association for Welfare of Timeshare Owners

In its advocacy efforts, STOWA filed a public interest litigation in 2017, seeking to have timeshare companies regulated under the Collective Investment Scheme (CIS) framework by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The association argued that timeshare schemes meet the criteria for CIS and should be regulated accordingly to protect investors from potential malpractices.
